Jewish Lexington Affinity Groups

What is an Affinity Group?

Affinity groups bring people with similar personal or professional interests, or who are in a similar life stage, together.

What do Affinity Group members do?

Affinity groups provide opportunities to participate in social events, educational opportunities, stimulating discussions, and community outreach initiatives.

We will plan three events each year – one social event, one spotlight event and one community outreach event.

The spotlight events will help us get to know Jewish community members as well as members from our broader community who do interesting things.  Some examples are people who:

  • wrote a book
  • did interesting research
  • started a nonprofit organization
  • established an innovative business or research institution
  • were nationally and/or internationally recognized for their work
  • produced a documentary on an interesting topic and

Once we establish steering committees for each group, we will begin to schedule programs and plan to have that started by the beginning of 2022.

How would participating in an Affinity Group benefit me?

Affinity Groups enrich our Lexington Jewish community by strengthening relationships in a fun and meaningful way and by providing opportunities to do community outreach together. Affinity Groups will reflect our engaged, vibrant, and flourishing Lexington Jewish community. Recognizing that each Jew is responsible, one for another, the Jewish Federation of the Bluegrass promotes the welfare of the Jewish people in our community, in Israel and worldwide.

Our community resources are rich – with a plethora of quite interesting people to get to know better and a wide variety of fun things to do.  Being a member of an Affinity Group will enable us to explore these rich resources together.

Jewish Lexington is offering the following Affinity Groups for our extended Jewish family:

The experience of relating to others in a meaningful way is the best way for us to thrive.  Enriching our Jewish community by building strong and meaningful relationships with each other through social, educational and community outreach experiences will enhance the resilience and health of our community.
